Frith Street Gallery - Soho Square
A Soho Landmark of Contemporary Art.
About Frith Street Gallery - Soho Square
Frith Street Gallery was founded in 1989 by Jane Hamlyn and has been part of London's contemporary art scene ever since. It started in a Georgian townhouse at 60 Frith Street, near Soho Square, then moved in 2007 to a larger purpose-built space in Golden Square. Across three decades it has built a name for an exhibition programme that backs leading contemporary artists.
The work on show spans a wide span of mediums, from painting and sculpture to film, video, installation and performance. That range has made the gallery a place for artistic exploration rather than a single house style.
The gallery is as much about building relationships between artists, collectors and institutions as it is about exhibitions. Its artists have shown in major public and private museums around the world, which has given the gallery a lasting footing in the wider art world.
Most exhibitions now take place at Golden Square, with the occasional showing still held at the original Soho Square gallery. Keeping both spaces lets Frith Street Gallery honour its roots while staying active in contemporary art.
