Maison Bertaux

Maison Bertaux is a Soho patisserie known for fresh-baked scones, cream cakes and a counter full of pastries. Everything from the classic cheesecakes to the marzipan figs and fruit tarts is made with real care, and there is plenty here for anyone with a sweet tooth.

The kitchen makes everything fresh on the premises every day. The cheesecakes are the standout, light and fluffy, and come in mixed fruit, strawberry and chocolate. They have earned the shop mentions in a number of international guides. You can have a slice in, or order a whole one for a special occasion.

The rest of the range runs to handmade eclairs, birthday cakes, wedding cakes and croissants, all served in a charming little room. It is a quietly old-fashioned corner of Soho, and a good one.
