About Soho Grind

Soho Grind sits on the Carnaby corner of Beak Street and runs a proper double shift: a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar by night. It is part of Grind, the group that started as a single cafe in Shoreditch and set out to change the way London drinks its coffee, and this branch keeps that split personality, pouring flat whites in the morning and espresso martinis long after.

As a coffee and cocktail bar in Soho, its appeal is the easy shift from one to the other. The counter turns out ethically sourced, house-roasted coffee alongside breakfast pastries, cakes and small bites, then the evening brings cocktails, with the espresso martini the house signature and a long-running Friday deal that keeps the room busy. It is walk-ins only, which suits its drop-in, all-day rhythm.

What to expect from this coffee and cocktail bar in Soho

Come early for coffee and a pastry, or later for a cocktail after the shops shut. The pink-hued Grind look is instantly recognisable, the coffee is taken seriously, and the bar leans on the espresso martini it helped make a London staple. Being on the edge of Carnaby, it works equally as a quick caffeine stop or a first-drink meeting point.

Coffee, cocktails and the Grind story

Grind built its name on sustainability as much as flavour, from home-compostable pods to a focus on well-sourced beans. The Beak Street site brings that to Soho with a full bar licence on top. It sits among the street's food and drink options near Flat Iron, with more of the area's cafes in our Soho coffee shops listings.

How a visit works

Soho Grind opens from 7.30am on weekdays, from 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, staying open late Thursday and Friday to 9pm for the cocktail crowd. It is walk-ins only, with no step-free access, and the bar area is over-18s after 7pm. Current menus are on its official site, and it features in The Nudge guide to Soho coffee.
