About Tamila

Tamila made Poland Street its flagship home in February 2026, taking over the prominent corner site that was most recently Obicà Mozzarella Bar and turning it into a modern South Indian curry house across two floors with a basement bar. It is the biggest of the Tamila sites, bringing the team's well-reviewed cooking from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu into the heart of the West End.

As a South Indian restaurant in Soho, it leans on the bright, spice-led food of Tamil Nadu rather than the familiar curry-house template. The menu runs from crisp dosas and comforting dhals to a signature Thanjavur chicken curry, with a spread of small plates and sides built for sharing, and a downstairs bar for drinks before or after.

What to expect from this South Indian restaurant in Soho

Expect Tamil Nadu classics done with care alongside a few more experimental plates: dosas, dhals, curries such as the Thanjavur chicken, and South Indian small plates to share. Spread over two floors with a basement bar, it works for a quick, spice-forward lunch as much as a longer dinner, and it is open seven days a week.

The kitchen and the room

Tamila built a strong reputation across its earlier London sites before this larger Soho flagship, and the Poland Street move gives the kitchen room to stretch. It sits among the area's Indian kitchens, near the Kati Roll Company, with more of the neighbourhood's tables in our Soho restaurants listings.

How a visit works

Tamila Soho opens seven days a week for lunch and dinner over two floors, with the basement bar for drinks. Booking is sensible at peak times, though walk-ins are welcome. Current menus and reservations are on its official site, and the Soho opening was covered by Hot Dinners.
