The Argyll Arms
A Great Pub Where History Meets Hospitality
About The Argyll Arms
The Argyll Arms has stood in Soho since 1868, named after the second Duke of Argyll. The Victorian snug areas were built to keep the social classes apart; today they are open to everyone. Original mahogany panelling, etched glass partitions and mirrored walls give the place a grand but welcoming feel, and there is a long-running rumour of a secret tunnel that once linked the pub to the Duke's mansion.
These days it pulls a good selection of cask ales and gins, with a menu of hearty British pub classics to go alongside. The mix of period detail and a proper drinks list keeps it busy with locals and visitors alike, and the Victorian character has been kept intact rather than scrubbed away.
