Falconberg Mews sits at the eastern edge of Soho, off Sutton Row, leading through to Soho Square and towards Charing Cross Road. It once served the backs of houses on the east side of Soho Square and has had several earlier names, including Bow Street and Falconer Court.
The name comes from Thomas, first Earl Fauconberg, who lived at number 20 Soho Square from the 1680s until 1700. The mews backed onto the old Astoria Theatre until its demolition in 2009. It now forms part of the Soho Place development around Tottenham Court Road station, completed in 2022 with the @sohoplace theatre.
