All About

Flaxman Court

Flaxman Court is a narrow paved passage running off the east side of Wardour Street, towards the Oxford Street end. It takes its name from the sculptor John Flaxman (1755 to 1826), who lived nearby on Wardour Street and produced monuments at St Paul's Cathedral and a frieze at the Royal Opera House.

The court is unsigned and easily walked past, with The Ship pub standing on the corner where it meets Wardour Street. There is little along it now beyond service access and the rear of the surrounding buildings. It survives chiefly as one of the small named courts that fill the gaps between Soho's main streets.
