Richmond Buildings runs off the west side of Dean Street, a short turning into the block behind it. Building began in 1732 on the site of an earlier Cockpit Court. The street takes its name from Thomas Richmond, the carpenter and former wax-chandler who developed it, and who also gave his name to the adjoining Richmond Mews.
The original Georgian houses have largely gone, replaced over the years by later frontages and a post-war block. Today it holds offices, studios and media and creative firms typical of this part of Soho, with the quiet feel of a side street rather than a thoroughfare.
