Walker's Court is a narrow, atmospheric passage tucked between Brewer Street and Peter Street. First laid out in the 18th century, it was most likely named after a local landowner or developer with the surname Walker, the usual way streets got their names back then. It has kept its old charm, with a cobbled path and overhanging bridges that make it one of Soho's most distinctive spots.
By the mid-20th century it had become known for Soho's nightlife. It housed the Raymond Revuebar, a members-only club that played a real part in shaping the area's reputation for adult entertainment. Much has changed, but the street still carries echoes of that bolder past.
Today this short cut-through holds a small number of shops and creative businesses, among them The Box Soho, an exclusive performance venue known for its bold shows and celebrity visitors. It's just a four-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Station, with Oxford Circus and Leicester Square not much further. Compact, full of character, and always slightly off the radar. The places along it are worth a look.
