Great Marlborough Street in Soho goes back to the early 18th century. It was named after the Duke of Marlborough, the military leader behind the victory at the Battle of Blenheim. Built as a fashionable address for London's elite, it has changed plenty since but kept its character.
These days it holds a mix of commercial, retail and creative businesses. The standout is Liberty London, the department store known the world over for its mock-Tudor building and its fashion, design and homeware. Media offices and boutique firms fill in around it. Back in the 1800s, the former Marlborough Street Magistrates Court made its name on high-profile cases, some involving the celebrities of the day.
Transport is no trouble. Oxford Circus is just around the corner, linking the street to the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines, and most of the West End is an easy walk from here. Take a look at what the businesses along the street have to offer.
